Federal Investigative Response Strike Team
Sometimes a possible threat comes to light from a supervillain bent on world domination, or a weapon of mass destruction, or the rise of a dictator in a diplomatic country. At times like these, a swift decision is often necessary, and that’s when Z.E.R.O. turns to their primary subsidiary, the agents of F.I.R.S.T.
Formed primarily as a response and strike team, F.I.R.S.T. operates only in five man cells, and operates under the motto “We were never there.” Plausible deniability is as much a factor in this division as is the air-tight security surrounding it, as many operations carried out by this division are… touchy, to say the least. Generally centered around intelligence gathering, the group also tends to be authorized to exercise judgment calls when in the field, up to and including assassinations. Because of this, they tend to be referred to as Z.E.R.O.’s “Spook Squad” to their faces… and other names behind their backs.
All members are highly trained infiltration specialists, and they only operate in five man cells. If backup is needed, another five man cell can be dispatched. Anything requiring more then those ten is turned over instead to S.E.C.O.N.D., while any F.I.R.S.T. operatives are pulled.
A basic five man cell consists of:
One Team Leader
One Heavy Weapons Specialist
One Stealth and Security Operative
One Sharpshooter / Sniper
Most teams are hand selected and grouped by the F.I.R.S.T. Director. Some longer lasting squads have been able to replace lost members by choice from other squads, building camaraderie, though all such nominations still must be approved by the Director.
Lt. Colonel Marcus Jacobs
Hair: Brown, buzzed ‘jarhead’ style
Occupation: Current Director of F.I.R.S.T.; Operations record classified.
A broad-shouldered, powerfully build man still very much within his prime, Lt. Col Jacobs speaks loudly, carries a big stick, and has about twenty contingency plans if the stick isn’t big enough. Because of the strange lack of tattoos, his own men aren’t even sure where exactly he got his training, but he speaks as a veteran of every war since Vietnam, which makes his age a question, and sometimes he lets slip of wars that no one’s ever heard of. He skin is dark, tanned and weathered, and he sports an eyepatch… which changes sides constantly. No one is quite sure why, though they’re all certain there must be a reason, none are brave enough to ask. People who have seen under it haven't lived to tell the tale.
The LT is very specific in his methods and orders. Basically, if you question him, you put your own life at risk. Discipline and unfailing loyalty are his specialties, because ‘if you can’t trust the man at your back to be doing what he’s supposed to, you’re already dead.’ It’s rumored he knows more secrets then any other man alive, and many dead men… and he’s one of the few specialists in the world to possess a Level Ten clearance with Z.E.R.O.
