Uhuru

Founding

Uhuru was founded by the man who would become known as Leader at the end of the Rwandan Genocide. He was a surviving Hutu and a man who had become brothers with the man Asani, a Tutsi. Both men had lost their families in the conflict and decided that with their unique gifts they would put and end to conflict around the world. Their understanding was that war/conflict arises from the subjugation of one group over another. Therefore, to eliminate war, to bring peace, all peoples must be freed from subjugation and allowed equal opportunity socioeconomically. Leader personally sought out men from around the world who he believed shared in his ideal for freedom so well, that they would commit themselves and their talents to his cause.
